Yo! The Monster Posse!

Way back in the 80's I came up with this comic book series. It was based on the hypothesis that monsters of legend and lore were actually extraterrestrials. I took it a step further and made those visitors from another world as juvenile delinquents who caused all kinds of problems since the dawn of mankind. In the full story a small group of these kids from the stars accidently get their school bus hijacked by one of their classmates and brings it to Earth, the only planet banned as being too naughty. Trapped with no escape and with giant 'Truant Bots' hunting for any delinquents, the group aka The Monster Posse tries to fit in and survive while teaming up against a ruthless group of their classmates. I literally had to write, pencil, ink and letter the entire three books in two months because the publisher at that time Malibu didn't send me a contract for the series until two or three months before printing. Just before the three part mini series went to print Malibu secured a license for a model kit line. You can see the resin models in the pics above. They were sculpted by the late Jim Fawlkes and produced by the old Action Kits International line. Afficianados remember those good ol' days of model making. Before the computer age. The biggest kick I got out of this mini-series is that the forward to the series was written by none other than the legendary writer Doug Moench. I grew up reading Doug's books. He's an expert in so many areas it's scary! He's probably had the longest run writing BATMAN than anyone else. Below you can read Doug's forward as it appeared originally on the inside cover of issue #1. Next I'll post the entire mini-series here so stay tuned!
